Boost Indoor Air Quality With UV Light

An ultraviolet light purification system is a great way to increase the indoor air quality of buildings and homes. Recent studies have concluded that air found indoors can be substantially more polluted than air found outdoors. It has also been concluded that the majority of people spend about 90 percent of their time indoors during the hot Dallas summers. These conclusions warn of the potential health risks that are presented by the air in your home and in your place of work.

Through the destruction of health-threatening microorganisms such as bacteria, germs and mold, UV light-purification systems are able to clean indoor air. When harmful microorganisms move through the light produced by the system, their molecular bonds are broken and their health-threatening effects are eliminated.

Lancet Medical Journal conducted a test to show the ability of UV light purification. This test was performed by installing light-purification units in a number of different office buildings. The units were kept on for four weeks and kept off for 12 weeks, in a cycle that lasted a year. After a year, scientists discovered:

  • that the sickness-level of those who worked in the buildings was lowered by 20 percent.
  • congestion problems amongst workers were lowered by 30 percent
  • there was a 60 percent drop in work-related respiratory problems.
  • the amount of muscle-related complaints was reduced by half.
  • nonsmokers and workers suffering from allergies received the most benefits from the UV light-purification system.

If your home has poor air quality levels or if you have allergies, you should consider adding an ultraviolet light-purification system to aid your heating and cooling equipment. UV lights work with your HVAC units to increase the quality of air found in your home. They will also aid your system to run more effectively by removing any buildups of health-threatening micro-organisms in your heating and cooling units.
